Two Oldham men charged after taxi driver critically injured

Two men from Oldham have been charged in connection with a brutal attack on a taxi driver, who is in a critical condition in hospital. 

Connor McPartland, 20, of Hollins Road, has been charged with section 18 assault and possession of bladed article.

Martin Treacy, 18, of Gawsworth Close, has been charged with section 18 assault.

Both men have been remanded in custody to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on Monday (1 November).

Shortly before 5am on Saturday morning (30 October), police were called to a report of an assault along Queensway in Rochdale.

Officers arrived and enquiries established that a taxi driver - a man in his 30s - had been assaulted.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries and he remains there in a critical condition.
