Visitors to Oldham town centre will benefit from increased parking with approximately 126 additional spaces available.
From Monday, November 9, this additional parking capacity will provide greater convenience during one of the busiest trading periods of the year.
The move comes as Oldham continues to attract residents and visitors into the town centre, with the success of the new market and growing popularity of The Loom. A packed programme of events for autumn and winter including the Feast of Fire on Saturday, October 31 and the Christmas Switch-On on Saturday, November 14 as part of Oldham's year as the Greater Manchester Town of Culture.
Car park opening times are Monday to Saturday 7am to midnight and Sunday 9am to midnight.
Oldham Council's Director of Growth, James Kington, said: "We're delighted to be able to make additional parking spaces available at Town Square Car Park ahead of the festive season.
"The success of our markets and events programme, particularly at The Loom, has helped attract more people into the town centre, and we want to make it as easy as possible for residents and visitors to enjoy everything Oldham has to offer.
"As work continues to transform and improve the town centre, we know that parking availability is important for our businesses and visitors.
"Releasing these additional spaces is another positive step in supporting the festive trading period and helping people access the fantastic range of shops, markets, events and attractions in the town centre."
While the additional spaces are being made available, some essential ongoing works will still need to take place in the new year, alongside the wider town centre regeneration.
As a result, there may be occasions when the car park, or sections of it, need to close temporarily to allow these works to be carried out safely. Any future closures will be communicated in advance wherever possible.
