Oldham Mountain Rescue Team are incredibly proud to recognise Lee Allport, who has recently received his 30 Years’ Service Award with the team.

When asked why he chose to join Mountain Rescue, Lee shared it was very much in his blood. Growing up around the team through his father’s involvement, combined with a lifelong love of the outdoors, joining felt like a natural step especially after leaving the Parachute Regiment.

Reflecting on his time with the team, one call-out that Lee will never forget is the severe snowstorm of 1997, when the team rescued over 200 people who were stranded on the moors and surrounding roads.

Among the many memorable moments over the years, one stands above the rest. When the team formed a guard of honour at Lee and his wife, Gemma’s  wedding, a powerful reminder that Mountain Rescue is not just a team, but a family.

Said a OMRT spokesperson said:”Thank you, Lee, for 30 years of dedication, service, and commitment. Your contribution to the team is truly appreciated. Congratulations on an outstanding achievement.”
