Thug locked up for 16 years for shooting in Oldham

Behind bars: Ethan Glasgow-Lattibeaudiere.

A 23-year-old man has been jailed for 16-years following a shooting in Oldham in broad daylight.

Ethan Glasgow-Lattibeaudiere, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to Section 18 wounding, attempted Section 18 wounding and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Manchester Minshull Street Court heard how officers were called out to Shaw Road at 12.30pm on Thursday, January 16, to reports of a man being shot.

The investigation uncovered that two males were travelling in the back of a taxi in Derker, when they saw Glasgow-Lattibeaudiere in the area on a Surron bike dressed in black and wearing a balaclava.

As the taxi passed, Glasgow-Lattibeaudiere spotted the two males in the back and began to follow them.  As he caught up with the car, he began to shout at the driver to stop and forced the passengers to get out.

After stopping the taxi and fearing for his life, the driver fled before Glasgow-Lattibeaudiere pulled the rear passenger doors open, shouting at the two passengers inside and demanding them to get out.

He then jumped in the back of the taxi through the other passenger door, and as he did, one of the two passengers managed to get out and get onto the Surron that Glasgow-Lattibeaudiere had parked at the side of the road.

As the passenger tried to escape on the Surron, Glasgow-Lattibeaudiere pulled out his handgun – and fired shots at the victim’s back.

The thug then pointed his gun through the open car doors at the second passenger who had now exited, he fired once, missing the passenger but causing damage to the taxi, before making off from the area himself and being picked up by another taxi moments later.

Glasgow-Lattibeaudiere was tracked down at an apartment block in Hulme a day later on the evening of Friday, January 17, 2025, when specialist firearms officers carried out an arrest on an apartment he was staying in.

As officers swooped on the apartment, a black Puma bag was thrown from a window which was later recovered.

It contained a small silver revolver that had a cylinder chamber with a capacity for five bullets. There were three bullets loaded. It is believed that the two bullets that were missing in the chamber were used in the shooting the day before.

Nine individuals were arrested throughout the investigation with Glasgow-Lattibeaudiere being charged with two counts of attempted murder, section 18 assault, and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

Brandon Nolan (20), of no fixed address, who was the man in the taxi was armed with a knife. He was sentenced to 12 months in prison for possession of a bladed article.

Detective Chief Inspector Charlotte Whalley from the Major Incident Team said: “Today’s sentencing marks a significant milestone in our ongoing fight against gun violence in Oldham.

“Glasgow-Lattibeaudiere showed a complete disregard for public safety when he opened fire in broad daylight back in January, endangering not just his intended targets but innocent members of our community who were simply going about their daily lives.

“Over the past year, our firearms unit has worked tirelessly to tackle gun crime across Oldham. We’ve increased patrols in known hotspots, conducted numerous weapons sweeps, and worked closely with community leaders to identify and disrupt criminal networks.

“Across Greater Manchester between April 2024 and April 2025, we recovered 86 firearms from our streets. Each weapon we recover potentially saves lives and prevents incidents such as this one.

“This sentencing reflects the serious nature of firearms offences and sends a clear message that we will pursue anyone who brings guns onto our streets.

“Finally, I would like to thank the officers who worked on this case, from the first responders, the officers on district level and my colleagues in the Major Incident Team who have worked tirelessly, unpicking the information we had which included CCTV and witness interviews.”
