A teenage girl has died after a serious crash near the Royal Oldham Hospital.
Shortly after 1.30pm on Thursday (23 February), emergency services were called to a road traffic collision on Rochdale Road.
Greater Manchester Police say it was established that two cars were involved in a collision, one of the cars mounted the pavement and collided with a pedestrian on Rochdale Road at the junction with Crompton Street, Coldhurst.
The pedestrian, a 16-year-old girl, was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the injuries she sustained.
One man in his 20s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody for questioning.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident - or may have dash cam or doorbell footage - to share it with the force's Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
