A Tameside foodbank organiser and an Oldham rugby ace are among those receiving recognition in the New Year's Honours list.
Patricia Jarman, 66, from Stalybridge, received the British Empire Medal (BEM) for running Tameside East - a network of four foodbanks in Tameside.
She said: "This is an incredible honour to be recognised for doing something I love so very much.
"Without the team of Tameside East it would not have been possible."
Meanwhile Rugby League legend Kevin Sinfield was honoured with a CBE alongside his former Leeds Rhino team mate Rob Burrow.
The pair have raised more than £15m to combat motor neurone disease since Burrow was diagnosed four years ago.
Sinfield said: "The bravery and courage that Rob and his amazing family have shown is wonderful."
