Oasis Academy Leesbrook student Waleed has made a strong showing at the recent Oldham Halloween Half Marathon. . . placing 169th out of 600 participants.
The Year 11 Student Principal and Head Student Librarian is part of the national Oasis Community Learning student leadership team.
He ran the event to raise awareness for Oasis as part of the No One Left Out (NOLO) 40th Anniversary Campaign.
Waleed said: “Running the half marathon was a brilliant experience, and I was pleased to find that it felt easy work on the day.
“It was an honour to represent Oasis Academy Leesbrook, the National Trust, and Oasis Community Learning, and the continued support from Oasis Academy Leesbrook really motivated me throughout the event.
“The atmosphere along the route made the whole experience even more enjoyable, and I’m proud to have shown what our academy community can achieve when we take on new opportunities.”

In Year 9, he applied to become a member of the student leadership team and has continued to grow year on year, becoming Head Librarian, Student Principal, taking part in national trust-wide events and in Year 10 becoming the face of the NOLO 40-Year Anniversary Campaign.
Headteacher Mrs Andrea Mitchell added: “We are so proud that Waleed represented not only Oasis Academy Leesbrook but our national trust, Oasis Community Learning.
“Waleed is a phenomenal ambassador and embodies all the character traits we hope to see in our students as we continue our commitment to the No One Left Out (NOLO) 40th Anniversary Campaign”.
Waleed’s experience is a testament to our commitment to strengthening the personal and character development of all our students and providing them with meaningful opportunities throughout their school careers.
