Oldham Snooker Academy is set to welcome English professional snooker player Gary Wilson.
The 40-year-old from Wallsend in North Tyneside, Tyne and Wear, has been invited to the club’s latest snooker exhibition on Wednesday, October 15 at 6.30pm.
Noted for his cue ball control and break-building ability, Wilson has won three ranking titles, the Scottish Open in 2022 and 2023, and the 2024 Welsh Open.
He was also runner-up at the 2015 China Open and the 2021 British Open, as well as reaching the semi-final of the 2019 World Championship as a qualifier.
Event organiser, Mohammed Nisar from the Waddington Street Academy said: “Gary is a smashing lad. Proper Geordie through and through and he used to come here around 2012 to play a tournament.
“He deserves all the success and has been as high as No.10 in the world. I think he’s currently at No.16 and is doing really well.
“He works really hard and deserves to be where he is and it is a privilege to have him in Oldham, and he is also looking forward to coming.”
Tickets for the exhibition are £10, £12 or £15 on the night, frame price £30 and it is offered on a first come first served basis.
