Despite tough mixed weather, Diggle’s popular Scarecrow Trail raised a staggering £4,300 for children at Diggle School.
Organisers of the two-week-long event were praised by locals and a stream of visitors who applauded the creativity of the scarecrows placed at key locations across the community.
This year's theme, ‘All Things Television’, focused on all eras and genres of TV, including soaps, reality TV, UK classics and a host of children’s TV favourites.

Thanking everyone for supporting the trail, enthusiastic organiser, Tracy Buckley, chair of Friends of Diggle School, said: "Despite some horrendous weather, we made it to the end with most scarecrows unscathed.
“Although a few were a bit battered by the end, we are thrilled that the huge amount raised of £4,300 will directly benefit the lovely children of Diggle School.

“We had hundreds of votes for all the scarecrows and it was hard to choose winners as there were some amazing creations,” she said.
"There were more than 30 scarecrows handcrafted by locals on display. They were really eye-catching and very creative. There is a terrific amount of thought gone into the exhibits.”
