Police arrest man on suspicion of drug supply after information received from public

Police have arrested a man in connection with drugs supply thanks to information from members of the community.

The suspect was arrested on Grisebeck Way in Coldhurst, yesterday (Wednesday), after residents raised concerns about drugs being sold in the area.

Officers seized drugs, cars, phones and cash which will be processed to see if proceeds of crime have helped buy the items.

PCSO Martin Smith, from the Central Neighbourhood Team, Coldhurst and Westwood, said: “We are also having lots of problems with vehicle crime in the area, with the main issue being thefts from motor vehicles parked at the Royal Oldham Hospital, Premier Inn on Chadderton Way, and the Audi Garage.

“Work vans seem to be most at risk as offenders are breaking in and taking tools and other high value machinery, so we are asking people in the area to be vigilant.

“A small transit connect van has been seen to be involved in the thefts at the hospital, so please make your family and friends aware of this issue.”

He added: “Finally, we have a Safe4Summer Initiative with partner agencies, including Manchester City Council, City Co, TfGM and Travelsafe across Greater Manchester.

“The Home Office initiative seeks to identify the city’s most problematic areas in a bid to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) with high-visibility and problem-solving policing.

“Please look up the Safe4Summer operation on the Internet and see how it can assist your local areas.”
