The 78-year-old woman who died after being struck by a van in Asda car park has been identified by police as Margaret Crichton from Oldham.
Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are now appealing to her family to come forward.
The driver of a Peugeot Expert was making their way to the exit of the Asda car park on Greenfield Lane when they struck the woman making her way back to her vehicle. 6.50pm yesterday
The driver of the Peugeot – a 35-year-old man - has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
Police are trying to identify Margaret’s family and are appealing to anyone who might know her or the family, who are believed to be in Manchester or Yorkshire, to please get in touch with SCIU on 0161 856 4741.
SCIU are continuing with the investigation and are asking for anyone with further information to please come forward.
