A man in his 30's has been rushed to hospital following a road traffic accident in Royton in the early hours of today.
Police and the emergency services were called out to Bleasdale Street, at around 1.45am after reports of a serious collison involving a van and a pedestrian.
The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Two men, one in his 30's and the other in his 60's, have been arrested on suspicion of assault and they remain in police custody for questioning.
A cordon around the Shaw Street area remains in place while enquiries are ongoing.
