Oldhamers told to expect doorstep visits for voter details

Civic Centre, Oldham.

Oldhamers are being told to expect doorstep visits by the council to check voter details.

Every year, the council checks to ensure the details on the electrol register are correct and gets in touch with every household in Oldham.

The door knock stage marks the final phase of the canvass and started on Thursday (September 11) and lasts until Sunday, September 29.

The council’s canvassers are expected to visit homes that have not replied to earlier letters or forms to check details. They will also collect details of new residents.

People are being told that all canvass staff will always carry an Oldham Council photo ID badge, which they will show at the door, and they will also have forms with them to fill in.

Oldham Council said all canvassers will collect the details on the doorstep and will never enter your home.

Telephone calls to some homeowners where people have not replied to letters will also be made.

Those who have not responded to letters can do so by clicking on www.householdresponse.com/oldham
