Oldhamers invited to an Indian dance extravaganza

Experience a taste of India through music and dance

A Manchester based dance group is set to raise the roof with a host of performances and local people are invited.

Rhythms of India – a South Asian Cultural Showcase A Journey Across India Through Dance & Music is being staged at the Manchester Academy 2, University of Manchester on Sunday, March 29. Doors Open: 4:30pm and the show begins at 5:30pm.

Rhythms of India is a new South Asian cultural showcase bringing together performers from across Greater Manchester for an evening celebrating Indian dance and music.

The event will feature over 60 performers presenting a journey across India through live performances.

Audiences can expect a dynamic mix of classical, folk, and contemporary styles, including Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Bhangra, Bollywood, and fusion performances, alongside live musicians.

The showcase aims to celebrate the richness of Indian performing arts while creating a platform for local artists and cultural groups to share their work with a wider audience.

With over 300 attendees expected, the event brings together dancers, musicians, and community members for a shared cultural experience highlighting creativity, representation, and community connection in Manchester.

Alongside the performances, a small selection of stalls offering Indian food and mehndi (henna) will be available before the show and during the interval.

The event is organised by Fiera Dance, in collaboration with the Indian Dance Society at the University of Manchester.

Tickets are available from £12 - £20 for adults, with discounted children’s tickets available.
