Families in Oldham are being invited to celebrate the festive season with a one-of-a-kind concert experience at Queen Elizabeth Hall.
Carrot Productions is set to present the BAFTA-winning classic The Snowman™, accompanied by a live orchestra, alongside Carrot Productions’ specially commissioned animated film Peter and the Wolf on Monday, December 1, 2025.
Peter and the Wolf has been created in collaboration with Georgian 2D animator and animation director Tsotne Rusishvili.
The new work will be presented in tandem with Prokofiev’s classic score, re-shaped for the occasion by Carrot’s long-time arranger and composer Daniel Whibley (CBeebies Musical Storyland).
Together with The Snowman, it’s a festive double bill destined to capture the hearts of audiences of all ages.
With a fun, festive medley created by Daniel Whibley, to open the show – and a special visit from the Snowman himself! – this magical show is perfect for the whole family to enjoy together, creating memories to treasure.
Professional Orchestra The performance features a professional orchestra drawn from the Hallé, BBC Philharmonic, Manchester Camerata, and BBC Concert Orchestra, performing both The Snowman™ and Peter and the Wolf live.
Young singers will also take the stage to perform Walking in the Air, giving children a rare opportunity to sing alongside professional musicians; an experience many have described as life-changing.
The two soloists chosen for the Oldham performances are Erin Riste and Aurelia Firth.
Fourteen-year-old Erin Riste brings a love of dance, singing, acting, and musical theatre to the Oldham performances.
Although this will be her first time appearing as a solo vocalist, she embraces the opportunity with enthusiasm. A devoted fan of classic musicals such as The Sound of Music and Calamity Jane, Erin has long enjoyed watching The Snowman with her family each Christmas, making her involvement in the concert especially meaningful.
Twelve-year-old Aurelia Firth, a Year 7 pupil at Newman Catholic College, is a talented multi-instrumentalist who plays violin, guitar, trombone, and keyboard, and also represents her school in netball.
Her stage experience includes lead and ensemble roles with North Stars Theatre Company and Oldham Theatre Workshop, most recently performing a solo in Once Upon a Cabaret.
Having first seen The Snowman at Queen Elizabeth Hall as a young child, she is thrilled to return to the same stage to sing with a live orchestra – hoping her performance will inspire other children to follow their own creative passions.

Rachel Whibley, Managing Director of Carrot Productions, said: “We are thrilled to bring the new Peter and the Wolf animation and The Snowman™ to Oldham Queen Elizabeth Hall. The combination of live music, animation, and young local talent makes this a festive experience families will remember for years.”
At the end of each performance, audiences will also be invited to join Classic FM’s Big Christmas Chorus, singing Walking in the Air alongside the orchestra to raise funds for Global’s Make Some Noise charity.
The Oldham date is part of Carrot Productions’ 2025 National Snowman Tour, featuring 30 performances across 12 locations from November 30 to December 23, 2025, including Stockport, Derby, Durham, Hull, Buxton, Guildford, Birmingham, Salisbury, St Albans, York, and Chester.
