Oldham has become the first borough in Greater Manchester to invest in the groundbreaking MegaHub programme - a bold move that’s opening up new digital and tech opportunities for local students.

Powered by IN4 and supported by major industry partners such as IBM, Microsoft, QinetiQ, and Roke, the MegaHub and CyberFirst programmes are giving young people in Oldham direct access to high-quality training, industry insight, and future-focused career pathways in one of the UK’s fastest-growing sectors.

Speaking at a recent event celebrating the programme’s impact, Councillor Mohon Ali, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said: “We believe that investing in our young people isn’t just important—it’s essential.

“That’s why Oldham was proud to be the first borough in Greater Manchester to back the MegaHub programme.

“We’re committed to supporting the next generation of thinkers, leaders, and innovators—right here in Oldham.

“Looking around the room today, I saw the future: bright, ambitious young people ready to shape a rapidly changing world.”

The day brought together students, industry leaders, and education partners, showcasing the powerful potential of partnerships that place youth opportunity at the heart of economic growth.

With digital careers on the rise, programmes like this are making sure Oldham’s young people are not just prepared—but empowered—to take their place in the future workforce.
