Oldham dancer set to dazzle Britain's Got Talent stage tonight

Back Zara Mitchell tonight.

An Oldham-born dancer is preparing to take centre stage in tonight’s Britain’s Got Talent final tonight (Sat) after earning a coveted Golden Buzzer from Alesha Dixon earlier in the competition.

Zara Mitchell is part of the Sadeck Berrabah and LMA dance act and will compete against nine other acts in a live showdown broadcast on ITV1, with viewers across the UK voting for the winner of this year’s series.

Sadeck Berrabah and LMA are a dynamic dance collaboration where they're visually striking; precision-based choreography has earned widespread attention.

Zara grew up in the Clarksfield and Lees area of Oldham and attended St Anne’s RC Primary School before continuing education at St Damian’s RC Science College in Ashton-under-Lyne.

She said: “I have been dancing for 21 years and am currently studying for a master's degree in creative dance at Liverpool Media Academy (LMA) in Liverpool city centre.

“I have always had a huge passion for dance and knew from my very first dance class that I wanted to pursue it as a career.

“I first learnt to dance at The Lyndan School of Dance being taught by my dance teachers Carol Charlesworth and Trisha McManus and then followed on to Infinity Dance were I attended classes until the age of 18 before moving to Liverpool to attend my BA degree at LMA (Liverpool media academy).”

She added: “Earlier this year, our university was approached by internationally renowned choreographer Sadeck Berrabah to collaborate on a performance piece for the Britain’s Got Talent auditions in Blackpool.

“Following a successful audition, we progressed through to the semi-finals, where we received the Golden Buzzer from Alesha Dixon for our performance featuring lights and umbrellas.

“Since then, we have been working incredibly hard in rehearsals to prepare for the live final. It has been an amazing experience to be part of such a unique project, and we are excited to give it our all when we perform in the Britain’s Got Talent Final tonight (May 30) at 7pm.

“We are hoping to receive as many votes as possible and would like to get the whole of Oldham behind us in support! It would mean the most to us and to me being a fellow Oldhamer.”
