Police from the Chadderton and Werneth Neighbourhood Team uncovered what is believed to be a “chop shop” operation in a series of garages near the junction of Eustace Street and Milne Street this morning (December 15).
Five stolen Ford vehicles, taken during burglary offences across Oldham, Tameside, and Huddersfield, were recovered at the location. The vehicles were in the process of being dismantled for parts.
A scene has been established, and all vehicles have been forensically seized. Enquiries are ongoing to identify those responsible.
Sergeant Tom Layton, Chadderton and Werneth Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "This morning, the Chadderton and Werneth Neighbourhood Team successfully located five stolen Ford vehicles linked to burglary offences in both Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire.
“It is believed these garages were being used by organised criminals to strip down stolen vehicles and sell the parts for profit.
“A scene remains in place, and our investigation is continuing.
“This is a significant find and demonstrates our team’s commitment to protecting the public and bringing offenders to justice. We will continue to tackle vehicle-related crime and pursue all lines of enquiry to identify and prosecute those involved.
“I urge anyone with information to contact Greater Manchester Police, on 101, quoting log 2659-141225.”
