Hulme Grammar School is delighted to announce a £10,000 donation from Nominet GiveHub to support its expanding programme of digital inclusion, STEM outreach, and community engagement across Oldham.

This investment marks a powerful continuation of Nominet’s support, helping Hulme Grammar reach over 1,000 children and young people through hands-on tech experiences, inclusive events, and pioneering partnerships.

From coding workshops and VR-powered field trips to holiday outreach and hackathons, the programme is designed to break down barriers and ignite aspirations in young people across the Oldham community.

Nominet is a public benefit company and the official registry for UK domain names. Through its GiveHub programme, Nominet supports grassroots initiatives that promote digital inclusion, online safety, and community wellbeing. Their mission is to create a more connected, inclusive, and secure digital future.

Sarah Horton, Membership Operations Lead at Nominet said: “We’re proud to support Hulme Grammar School’s visionary approach to digital inclusion.

“Their work goes beyond the classroom - empowering young people across Oldham with the skills, confidence, and inspiration to thrive in a digital world. This is exactly the kind of impact GiveHub was designed to enable.”

The funding will also accelerate the development of the Brenda Mills Institute for Innovation and Technology - a new initiative at Hulme Grammar that will serve as a hub for creativity, collaboration, and future-facing learning. Named in honour of a beloved former teacher who left a legacy gift in her will, Brenda was a trailblazer in STEM education.

The Institute will bring together pupils, educators, and industry partners to explore the intersection of technology, design, and social impact.

Marc Hornby, Director of Development & Public Benefit, said: “This grant is more than a donation - it’s a vote of confidence in our vision for a digitally inclusive Oldham. With Nominet’s support, we’re not just delivering events; we’re building legacy.

“The Brenda Mills Institute will be a beacon for innovation, and we’re proud to be shaping a future where every child has the tools and inspiration to thrive.”

The programme will be delivered in collaboration with industry partners and Fellows of the Brenda Mills Institute and supported by events including the Manchester Science Festival, British Science Week, and the Great Science Share.

It will also feature the school’s second Junior Hackathon hosted today (Thursday, December 18).
