A man has been arrested and a murder investigation launched following the death of a male in Royton.
Police attended at an address in Plumpton Close, following a call regarding an altercation at around 7.50pm on Saturday, December 6.
Upon arrival, officers and colleagues from the ambulance service treated a 55-year-old man, but despite their best efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 59-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning. Enquiries are ongoing.

As officers continue their work, they are asking anyone who heard or saw anything in the area to please come forward.
This includes anyone who may have CCTV or doorbell footage.
Detective Inspector Louise Kelly, from GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “Any incident of this nature is naturally shocking and I fully appreciate that the community will be worried and shocked by this news.
“However, we are treating this as an isolated incident, with no threat to the wider public. We have one man in custody who was arrested at the scene and are working to establish the full circumstances of the man’s death.
“As we continue our work, I would urge anyone who has any information regarding the events of last night to please come forward. This includes anyone who saw or heard anything or has any footage from the area at the time.
“Any information you provide could be of great benefit as we work to get justice.”
One shocked resident said: "The incident happened on Saturday night and my guess is that they had a few drinks and then the inevitable has happened."
