Two trojans from Oldham Mountain Rescue Team came to the rescue of an ancient parish church flag.
David Allport and Dr Andrew Taylor responded to a request from Canon Sharon Jones that the Saddleworth Parish Church flag pole once again - due to the high winds - was trying to escape the church tower.
David said: "I was informed at lunch, phoned Andy and we met Sharon at the church.
"We went up inspected the damage pulled the flag back over and secured it safely until we can do a complete re-fit.
"It was not our repair that failed but helped stop it from falling off.”
