Oldham Mountain Rescue Team was called to assist North West Ambulance Service after a mountain biker came off their bike in woodland at Park Bridge, sustaining a potential back injury.
Paramedics assessed the casualty at the scene at 4:30pm on Saturday. Team members then carefully transferred the casualty into a specialist vacuum mattress to immobilise the injury.
They were placed into a winter casualty bag to protect them from the cold conditions and secured onto a stretcher before being carried through the woodland to the waiting ambulance for onward care.
An OMRT spokesperson said:” We wish the casualty a speedy recovery and hope they’re back out enjoying the trails soon.”
Sixteen team members were involved for two hours.
