An event aimed at empowering young people to prioritise their mental health and build confidence has been hailed as a huge success.
More than 150 people attended WellFest hosted by Mahdlo Youth Zone on Sunday - the day after Mental Health Day.
The event gave people in the community the chance to explore different approaches to wellbeing and find out more about mental health support in the local area.
Activities at WellFest included yoga, guided meditation sessions, Pilates and free health check MOTs.
Expert-led workshops covered topics including body positivity and building a ‘coping skills’ toolbox.
The event also featured games, arts and crafts, sports and a bouncy castle for young people attending.
Young people aged 8 – 19, or up to 25 with additional needs, who attended WellFest were able to sign up for a free annual Mahdlo membership, giving them access to the charity’s regular sessions and activities happening throughout the year.
Lucy Lees, Chief Executive of Mahdlo Youth Zone, said: “At Mahdlo, we’re passionate about empowering young people to prioritise their mental health, build confidence and feel good about themselves.
“Events like WellFest bring people together, break down the stigma around mental health and show young people the positive impact that taking time for their wellbeing can have. It was fantastic to see our community come together, and we’d like to thank everyone who attended and all those who helped make WellFest such an inspiring and successful event. We had over 150 people in attendance. It was very well received.”
