A closure order on a property in Grotton has been successfully extended following joint action by local authorities.
Police sergeant in charge of the Saddleworth & Lees Neighbourhood Team, working in partnership with Oldham Council's Community Safety Team has successfully secured an extension to the Closure Order already in place at 23 Station Road, Grotton.
The original Closure Order was obtained following sustained reports of anti-social behaviour and criminality linked to the address, and Sgt Andy Holian said: "I am pleased to confirm that the court was satisfied that the order should remain in force.”
The property remains subject to a partial Closure Order which means:
-
The owner of the property is permitted to access.
-
Authorised tradespeople may enter the property to carry out renovation and repair works.
-
Access is only permitted Monday to Friday between 9:00am and 5:00pm.
-
No other persons are permitted to enter or remain at the property.
Sgt Holian added: “Anyone who enters the address without lawful authority or remains there in breach of the Closure Order, commits a criminal offence and may be liable to arrest and prosecution.
"This extension demonstrates the continued commitment of Greater Manchester Police and Oldham Council to address the issues that have affected local residents for such a long period of time. Whilst significant progress has been made, our work is not yet complete, and we will continue to monitor the situation closely.
“I would once again like to thank residents who have continued to support this process by reporting concerns and providing information. Community intelligence remains invaluable and has been instrumental in achieving this outcome.”
If you witness anyone entering the property who should not be there, or believe the Closure Order is being breached, please contact Greater Manchester Police immediately: 999 if a crime is in progress or there is an immediate threat to safety or 101 for non-emergency reports and intelligence.
This result is another positive step forward and demonstrates what can be achieved when residents, partner agencies and neighbourhood policing teams work together to tackle the issues that matter most to our communities.
