The town's Hindu community came together to celebrate the festival of Diwali at Indian Association Oldham.
More than 1500 worshippers in colourful outfits gathered at the Schofield Street temple yesterday (Wednesday) to mark the special occasion.
Shyam Kotak, general secretary at the temple, hailed the event as ‘brilliant’, adding: “People and families were coming in and out all day, but we had a full house in the evening. There were over 100 plus food displays; there were people worshipping and singing religious songs.
“We want to wish everyone celebrating a happy Diwali and prosperous New Year.”
