The list of candidates for this year’s Greater Manchester mayoral election has been confirmed.
Nominations to run in the election officially closed at 4pm on Friday (April 5), with polling day being Thursday, May 2. The list of election agents, and who they are representing, was posted at the headquarters of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) in the city centre this afternoon.
On Monday (April 8), a formal Statement of Persons Nominated will be released online, the GMCA has also confirmed. However, with nominations now closed, no new candidates will be able to make it on to the ballot by the time that is released.
The list of candidates for the election are as follows, ordered alphabetically by surname:
- Don Prof Reis Abraham Halliwell Prf — Independent
- Jake Austin — Liberal Democrats (LIB DEM)
- Dan Barker — Reform UK (REFORM)
- Nick Buckley — Independent (IND)
- Andy Burnham — Labour (LAB)
- Laura Evans — Conservative (CON)
- Hannah Spencer — Green (GREEN)
Polls will be open in the election on May 2 from 7am to 10pm. The deadline to register to vote is 11:59pm on April 16.
Residents will need a photo ID to vote, with a list of accepted forms here. If you do not have any of the accepted forms of ID, you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate online here until 5pm on April 24.
Voters must be registered in Greater Manchester’s 10 boroughs – Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, and Wigan – and aged 18 or over on polling day to cast their ballot.
