Tributes have poured in for a former Oldham Rugby League Football Club (RLFC) player believed to be the man found dead at a flat.
It is understood the former Roughyeds player, Mick ‘Tricky’ Martindale (50), was the man who was discovered dead at the flat on Eldon Street, in the Alexandra Park area of the town.
Rochdale Coroners Court confirmed they had received the file of Michael Martindale.
Mr Martindale played at Oldham RLFC in the late 1990s and in a post on social media, the club said: “We are saddened to learn of the passing of our former player Mick Martindale.
“Mick wore the Oldham shirt with pride in the late 90s, and was a well-known face throughout our community game, as well as in his coaching roles at Oldham St Annes.
The club sends its condolences to Mick’s family and friends.”

Police were called to the address on Wednesday, May 28, and have arrested a 64-year-old man on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody.
