First Choice Homes Oldham (FCHO) is hosting a careers fair at its head office next month to help customers enter employment with local social housing providers.
The housing association is joining forces with other local providers, Jigsaw, Great Places and ForHousing for the ‘Careers in Social Housing’ event on Thursday, March 12, 2026.
It follows Greater Manchester Housing Providers (GMHP) recent commitment to recruit 20 per cent of their workforce from social housing tenants by 2034.
The event at Union Street in Oldham will showcase careers in the sector as an option for tenants, as all four providers own properties locally.
“We are encouraging people living in social housing and looking for work to consider a career with us and other housing providers, as there is no issue with tenants working for their own landlord or any other,” said FCHO employment and skills manager Mark Harrison.
“There will be stalls for people to visit to find out more about each provider and what opportunities are available alongside videos from current FCHO staff members explaining more about their roles and the different opportunities in housing.
“We hope as many social housing customers as possible from across the Oldham area will take advantage of the chance to come to the day and see the great careers on offer at all four housing associations."
There are two ticket allocations for the event with different times. Those wanting to register should click on the time that suits them to secure a place.
