Every road in Greater Manchester where roadworks are taking place at the moment

Roadworks are taking place on key A and B roads in nearly every area across Greater Manchester. Temporary traffic lights on Wilmslow Road could last until January 2027.

Street works can be carried out for a number of reasons including changes being made to a road, emergency repairs, as well as work by utility companies. However a 2025 parliamentary transport committee report said: “They can also be a source of frustration for anyone trying to get around on roads and pavements by causing congestion and delays that harm the economy, disrupt transport services and limit access to high streets and businesses.”
