Dr Kershaw’s Hospice is recruiting for new members of its Board of Trustees.
People with professional experience in the medical, nursing, accounting and retail sectors are encouraged to apply for the voluntary role.
As an independent hospice and registered charity, Dr Kershaw’s provides free palliative and end-of-life care services for adults with life-limiting illnesses across Oldham and beyond.
Its support includes a 12-bed inpatient unit, Caring Hands and Hospice at Home services, and bereavement and wellbeing programmes.
With over 100 staff and over 400 volunteers in place, Dr Kershaw’s Hospice is currently undergoing an exciting period of transformation.
This includes the construction of a state-of-the-art wellbeing centre, new dementia-friendly gardens, and a green plan centered on sustainable initiatives.
The hospice has also strengthened its connections within the borough’s South Asian community, including partnering with the Shree Swaminarayan Mandir temple.
As it expands its vital work, Dr Kershaw’s Hospice is now looking to add more trustees to its passionate team.

Trustees share ownership of strategy, budget and policies to ensure the hospice is well-managed and uses all resources effectively.
They are responsible for making sure the charity is run in accordance with all legal, financial and regulatory requirements.
Benefits include career enhancement, professional networking, and a sense of purpose.
As part of the role, trustees are expected to attend scheduled meetings and ad hoc workshops throughout the year, equating to approximately one day per month.
David Macdonald, chair of the Board of Trustees, said: “It really is an honour to serve and collaborate with Dr Kershaw’s as a trustee.
“All of us on the Board get so much out of volunteering and seeing just how much of an impact the organisation has for patients and their families, friends and carers.
“We are looking for new members who will bring expertise and professional advice to meet the challenges of running such a vital operation.
“We particularly welcome applications from people with different lived experiences and cultural backgrounds; we are committed to equal opportunities for all.”
The deadline for applications is Thursday, April 30. Applicants can email bev.schofield@drkh.org.uk or adele.doherty@drkh.org.uk for an informal chat or to request an expression of interest form.
