A fundraiser set up in memory of Dale Harris, the former head of commercial at Oldham Athletic, has raised more than £10,000 to support his family following his untimely death on Monday in Royal Oldham Hospital.
Chadderton FC set up the fundraiser on Tuesday – Dale moved from Latics to become chief operating officer at Chadderton in the summer – and donations have been pouring in since.
Oldham Athletic, where Dale worked for many years in various roles, starting as a matchday volunteer, led the tributes.
Thousands of people have paid their respects online, and Chadderton FC will do so formally on Saturday at their home fixture against North Shields at their Andrew Road ground.
