Cyclist in life-threatening condition in hospital after crash with motorcycle

A cyclist has suffered life-threatening injuries after a crash with a car in Lees on Bank Holiday Monday.

Just after 5pm, a 20-year-old man on a blue Suzuki motorbike and a man in his 50s on a cycle collided on Huddersfield Road in Lees.

Emergency services attended and quickly took the cyclist to hospital with life threatening injuries where he remains. The motorcyclist also suffered a serious injury in the crash.

The motorbike rider has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Sergeant Joe Barron, from GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Sadly this incident has left a man in a life-threatening condition and we are keen to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has any dash-cam footage. Anyone that may have any information is asked to call us on 0161 856 4741 quoting incident number 2164 of 31 August 2020.
