As winter approaches, Conservative councillors are working towards addressing concerns relating to potential flooding of houses in Uppermill.
It's a drainage ditch around Kenworthy Gardens, which prevents houses from flooding when the River Tame overflows, which has caught their attention.
It is under the riparian ownership of Saddleworth Parish Council, however, Oldham Borough Council also have responsibilities.
Self-seeded trees and shrubs have been removed, as has a soil build-up which was blocking the drainage of the ditch.
Borough and parish councillor Graham Sheldon (pictured, left) has worked with residents and, along with colleagues, funded the renovation of the footpath.
As Chairman of Estates, he said: "This has been the subject of discussion for sometime, works have been carried out and we’ve held site visits, including with engineers. Partners at SPC and OMBC have played their parts, keeping each side of the bargain and we’re hopeful that it will soon be sorted."
Councillor Max Woodvine (pictured, right) is on the Estates Committee and is supporting the efforts.
