Oldham Greenhill Community Sports and Recreation Club has officially hosted the launch of the Oldham Alliance, a major new initiative backed by Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) to tackle youth violence.
The club welcomed Oldham Chief Inspector Lee Parker, project partners, and guest speakers to its grounds on Havelock Street as they kicked off a vital initiative to create safer, stronger futures across the borough, including the Glodwick area.
Oldham Greenhill aims to empower local youth through sport, recreation and community support.
Through this powerful new partnership with the Greater Manchester VRU, they are taking that impact even further.
As part of the Activities Programme which began in June 2026 and run until Dec 2026, it will be hosting dedicated weekly sessions to provide positive pathways for young people:
Fridays (6:30pm - 8:30pm): Mixed Youth Club (Ages 10-13)
Saturdays (6:00pm - 8:00pm): Boys Youth Club (Ages 14-18)
Sundays (1:00pm - 3:00pm): Girls Club (Ages 6-13)
Director and Trustee, Nurul Hoque, said: “A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the launch, and to our fellow alliance partners working collaboratively to deliver change across the borough: Royal Sports Club, Fitton Hill Junior Youth Club, GRACE, and Centre of Wellbeing, Training and Culture (CWTC).
“Together, we are making a profound community impact and looking forward to empowering more young people over the coming months.”
