Chadderton School celebrates top GCSE results

Amazing: Amaar Qureshi achieved six Grade 9s, two Grade 8s and a Grade 7

Staff at The Radclyffe School are "incredibly proud" of students who worked extremely hard and overcame difficult challenges to achieve their GCSE and BTEC results.

This year's class saw top results, with some outstanding achievements once again, giving them a chance to take their next steps.

Students who attained high grades included Amaar Qureshi, who achieved six Grade 9s, two Grade 8s and a Grade 7, while Kareem Ali scored three Grade 9s, a Grade 8, three Grade 7s and a Grade 6, and Mohammed Yasin Ahmed achieved six Grade 8s and three Grade 7s.

Headteacher John Cregg said: “I am incredibly proud of our students, who have demonstrated outstanding resilience and application in order to achieve these excellent results.

“Although the pandemic may seem a distant memory for many, these young people are still feeling the impact of having their secondary education severely disrupted by Covid19 and have faced the added challenge of a return to the pre-pandemic, tougher standards of qualifications and grade boundaries.

“Almost all of our learners have achieved exactly what they need in order to begin their chosen post-16 courses and I wish them all the very best for the future.

“I would also like to thank our amazing staff who have guided these young people incredibly well throughout the last five years and have once again demonstrated the fabulous standards of education, care and support we provide here at The Radclyffe School, shown by our most recent ‘Good’ Ofsted judgement.”

In total, 58 per cent of students achieved Grade 4 or above in both English and Maths, with 37 per cent of students achieving Grade 5 or above in the two subjects.

Of all the results awarded to students at The Radclyffe School, 13 per cent were Grade 7 or above, 46 per cent were Grade 5 or above and 66 per cent were Grade 4 and above.

Alongside the exceptional individual successes, many students expressed joy and relief at their outcomes.

Omar was delighted: “For the effort I put in, I definitely got the grades I deserved.”

Nahim described himself as “ecstatic” and is now exploring a new path at college as a result of his grades.

Laiba shared that she was “extremely happy”, particularly as she achieved higher than she expected in Maths.

Others offered advice to younger pupils, with Fabia encouraging incoming Year 7 students to “stick at it” when exams come around, while Ayesha added that “leaving everything to the last minute doesn’t work, try and do a bit at a time.”

Sue Webb, Chair of Governors added: “On behalf of the Governors, I would like to congratulate all our Year 11 students on their results this year.

“Our students and the staff who have taught and supported them so wonderfully over the last five years should all be very proud of themselves.”
