Bus strikes set to cause widespread disruption from tomorrow

Industrial action by some bus operator staff at Stagecoach and Metroline is expected to take place from tomorrow (Friday , October 10) until Monday (October 13) affecting many Bee Network services.

With the exception of some early morning and late-night services, buses will operate as normal on Sunday, October 12. 

The walkout is part of an ongoing dispute over pay. The action by First Bus drivers was called off last week after workers accepted what was described as an “exceptional” 20 per cent pay offer. 

Unite Union has warned that, unless pay talks reach an agreement soon, further strikes are planned for Saturday 18, Thursday 23, and Friday 24 October, potentially causing additional disruption later in the month. 

Whilst many bus services will not run, some buses, as well as trams and trains will continue to operate as normal. 

People are urged to check before they set on their journeys, plan ahead and leave plenty of time for travel. 

Buses will still be showing as running through the Bee Network journey planner on the website and app. If using this, please turn off the bus option in the journey planner. You can check that the bus service is running through the app or website.
