Blocked road gullies left a major Shaw main road submerged yesterday, forcing drivers to battle deep water outside a local petrol station.
Images were shared on social media warning drivers of the flood which was blocking the garage.
An Oldham Council spokesperson said: “After yesterday’s heavy rain, there was some localised ponding/flooding on Crompton Way in Shaw.
“Our teams went out the next morning and carried out maintenance on several gullies to help the water drain away.
“We look after around 47,500 drains across the borough, and since September 2025 we’ve already cleaned about 35,000 of them as part of our ongoing maintenance programme.
“Our teams are expected to return to Shaw to carry out work as part of this programme later this year.”
