Abrahams wins an MP of the Year award

Oldham East and Saddleworth MP Debbie Abrahams has won a prestigious accolade in the latest MP of the Year awards.

The Patchwork Foundation announced on Tuesday morning (April 21) that Ms Abrahams is the winner of Labour People's Choice in the MP of the Year awards for 2019. 

The Patchwork Foundation honours MPs on an annual basis, recognising those who have worked hard to support the most disadvantaged communities through their policy making or campaigns they have supported.

MPs are chosen by the public and an independent panel of judges in a variety of categories.

In light of Covid-19 restrictions, the awards - usually a Parliamentary reception - were announced on Twitter for the first time. 

Ms Abrahams tweeted that it was "a real honour" to receive the award.
