Mongrel mum Kelly putting her paws up

Lovable mongrel Kelly preferred  horsepower to paw power as she hitched a ride in a pony and trap with her owner Eileen Pearson.

She was a familiar four-legged figure around Rowarth where she lived with the Pearson family.

If she wasn’t riding in style, always-active Kelly was racing after horses in six-mile-long hikes around the village.

In late 1985 however, she was putting up her paws and resting, and at the start of the new year, the Glossop Chronicle was explaining  why.

Kelly had given birth to eight equally loveable and adorable pups, leaving Eileen with the job of finding them homes.
