Zink teams up with PCrefurb as drop-off point for unwanted tech

Paul Bohan at Zink HQ.

It is now even easier to donate your unwanted laptops, smartphones, and tablets after local charity Zink teamed up with Glossop-based PCrefurb.

Donated tech is wiped clean and refurbished by PCrefurb, who then give the IT equipment to families in need throughout the High Peak as part of their efforts to bridge the digital divide, enabling those who cannot afford to buy equipment themselves to be able to access the internet.

Now thanks to a new partnership, anyone wanting to donate their items can also drop them off at the Zink HQ in Buxton as well as PCrefurb’s offices in Glossop.

Paul Bohan, CEO at Zink, explains why the partnership was so important.

He said: "Many of Zink’s clients who are looking for work are at a disadvantage because they lack internet access and often the skills to seek work on it.

"PCrefurb have provided laptops for some of our clients and Zink’s work coaches have shown them how to apply for jobs.

"But there is a shortage of equipment, particularly laptops. By opening a donation point in Buxton for PCrefurb, we hope we can help address this."

If you have an unwanted laptop, smartphone or tablet, you can donate it at Zink HQ, Market Street Car Park, Clough Street, Buxton, any weekday from 10am to 4pm or phone 01298 214926.
