Weekend Review: Derbyshire and Cheshire Cricket League

Here's what happened in the Derbyshire and Cheshire Cricket League over the weekend.

Division One

Woodley v Hayfield

Hayfield won the toss and elected to field, bowling out the hosts for 185. D Kay scored 53 and B Qasim 46, as J Adamson took 3-81. Hayfield knocked off the runs for the loss of eight wickets thanks to 42 from G Davies and 33 from H Poggonpoel as D Kay took 4-41.

Dinting v Dove Holes

Dinting won the toss and elected to bat first, ending 178 all out. C Wyche struck 60 as D Waterhouse took 3-35. Dove Holes were 74 all out in reply with P Hills taking 3-17 and S Mehta 4-6.

Mottram v Broadbottom

Mottram won the toss and elected to bat, ending on 141 all out. L Wright scored 31 and S Fielding 83, as S Croft took 4-42 and Joe Riley 4-17. Broadbottom knocked off the runs for the loss of four wickets. A Walsh struck 35, J Brotherton 30 and C Cheetham Roberts 37*.

Division Two

Buxworth v Newton

Buxworth won the toss and elected to field, as Newton ended on 205-4. S Nugent scored 36, O Marrow 81* and G Johnson 43. Buxworth fell to 94 all out in reply. C Hammond scored 33 as L Barnard took 3-20 and C Grime 3-39.

Stalybridge St Paul’s v Old Glossop

Old Glossop won the toss and elected to bowl, restricting Stalybridge to 141-9. M Whitworth scored 45 as E Walsh took 4-47. Old Glossop fell to 107 all out in reply. J Wright scored 37 as U Riaz took 5-24 and J Brownhill 4-38.

Birch Vale v Hazel Grove

Birch Vale won the toss and elected to bat first, ending 115 all out. T Bannister scored 47 as L Rogers took 4-15. 

Hazel Grove raced to victory for the loss of just four wickets thanks to 47 from A Twidell as S Burns took 2-14.

Tintwistle v Hadfield

Hadfield won the toss and elected to field, as they bowled Tintwistle out for 164. K Davies struck 62 and J Pool 32 as L Doyle took 6-47.

Hadfield collapsed to 43 all out in reply as M Robinson took 4-22 and S Rose 3-7.

Division Three

Newton v Chapel

Chapel won the toss and elected to field, bowling Newton out for 58. C Beal and H Beal took three wickets each with J Gyte taking the remaining four. Chapel lost five wickets on the way to victory, J Wood scoring 38 as M Barnard took three wickets.

High Lane v Pott Shrigley

Pott Shrigley won the toss and elected to field, as High Lane were bowled out for 160. M McCarthay scored 33 and M Brown 37 as R Anderson-Fitter took 4-28 and M Baqueriza-Jackson took 3-24. 

Pott Shrigley fell to 59 all out in reply thanks to 3-18 from K Eiselt and 3-10 from F Barlow.

Offerton v Mottram

Offerton won the toss and elected to field, bowling out Mottram for 93. A Davies took 3-26 and J Kirkham 4-3. Offerton finally made it home for the loss of eight wickets as R Jeda scored 45* and P Marks took 3-13.

Charlesworth v Hollingworth

Hollingworth won the toss and elected to field, as Charlesworth were bowled out for 151. N Bennett scored 41 as S Morris took 5-27 and R Hoskins 3-40. Hollingworth collapsed to 79 all out in the chase as S Gilham took 3-39 and M Bardsley took 4-17.

Division Four

Dove Holes v Birch Vale

Birch Vale conceded the fixture.

Old Glossop v New Mills

Old Glossop won the toss and elected to field, bowling New Mills out for 66. D Acomb took 4-18 and I Twist 3-18 as S Mills struck 33. Old Glossop chased down the target for the loss of just two wickets.

Hayfield v Woodley

Hayfield won the toss and elected to bat first, ending on 149 all out. E Brownsword scored 51, A Oldfield 31 and J Miller 36 as P Harris took 3-20 and D Hotson 4-24. Woodley took just 19.3 overs to complete the chase without loosing a wicket. D Oldland scored 56* and R Bamford 67*.

Broadbottom v Tintwistle

Broadbottom won the toss and elected to bat field as Tintwistle ended on 265-5. S Morris scored 35, R Harris 42, S Barrow 40 and D Patel 60*. Broadbottom fell to 98 all out as J Brotherton scored 35. D Robinson took 3-28 and G Jones 4-11.

Division Five

Chapel v Buxworth

Buxworth conceded the fixture.

Hollingworth v Dinting

Dinting won the toss and elected to bat, ending on 100 all out as R Gibson took 5-7. Hollingworth knocked of the runs for the loss of four wickets, thanks to 46 from M Mohammed.

Pott Shrigley v 

Stalybridge St Paul’s

Pott Shrigley won the toss and elected to field, as Stalybridge ended on 114-9. H Marchington took 3-12. Pott Shrigley made it home for the loss seven wickets thanks to 41 from S Barlow.

Hadfield v Offerton

Hadfield won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 220-6. J Hollingworth struck 57, L Martin 44 and J Nicholson 56 as S Ahmed took 3-62. Offerton were all out for 83 in reply as F Gabriel took 3-14 and J Gabriel took 4-7.

Hazel Grove v Charlesworth

Hazel Grove won the toss and elected to field as Charlesworth ended on 90 all out. C Sims scored 53 as J Hall took 6-12. Hazel Grove were themselves bowled out for 43 as S Marren took 4-8 and A Sergent 4-6.

Whaley Bridge v Compstall

Compstall won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 104 all out. G Parry scored 49. Whaley Bridge chased the target for the loss of six wickets thanks to 55 from M Morton. T Pearson took 4-22.
