Weekend Review: Derbyshire and Cheshire Cricket League

Here's what happened in the Derbyshire and Cheshire Cricket League over the weekend.

Division One

Dove Holes v Mottram

Mottram won the toss and elected to field first, bowling Dove Holes out for 125.

R Fitton and L Wright claimed three wickets each. Mottram fell to 107 all out in reply, J Riley scored 30 as D Gilbride took 3-32.

Broadbottom v Woodley

Broadbottom were put in to bat and scored 199-7. C Cheetham-Roberts scored 82, A Walsh 49 as C Cranwell took 3-70. 

Woodley reached their target for the loss of six wickets thanks to 63 from C Cranwell and 34 from B Higginbottom as O Cummings took 3-40.

Hayfield v New Mills 

New Mills won the toss and elected to bat, ending 186 all out. J Duckworth scored 78, as H Poppongoel took 4-44. 

Hayfield struggled in the chase as they finally made it home for the loss of seven wickets. B Higginbottom scored 79 as C Miles took 3-41.

Division Two

Old Glossop v Birch Vale

Birch Vale conceded the fixture.

Hadfield v Buxworth

Hadfield won the toss and elected to field, bowling Buxworth out for 82. L Doyle took 3-16, R Hirst 3-18 and A Ball 3-27 as C Reynolds made 41. Hadfield knocked off the runs for the loss of one wicket thanks to 65* from J Tranter.

Hazel Grove v Tintwistle

Hazel Grove were inserted by Tintwistle and ended on 125-9. R Burke struck 31 as M Robinson took three wickets. Tintwistle knocked off the runs for the loss of four wickets thanks to 51 from K Davies and 41 from J Pool.

Division Three

Hollingworth v Newton 2XI

Hollingworth won the toss and elected to field first, bowling out Newton for 127. G Hayes scored 50 as W Quereshi and T Conway took three wickets each. Hollingworth were agonisingly short, ending on 125 all out as G Hayes took 6-4.

Mottram 2XI v High Lane 

High Lane conceded the fixture.

Chapel v Offerton 

Offerton won the toss and elected to field, as Chapel scored 173-9. A Hibbert scored 64 and J Wood 32. 

Offerton slumped to 66 all out in reply, despite 42 from P Smith as A Burgess took 4-32 and J Gyte 3-21.

Pott Shrigley v Charlesworth 

Charlesworth won the toss and elected to field, bowling Pott Shrigley out for 123. S Cleaver hit 30, as J Butterworth and P Elliott took three wickets each. Charlesworth fell to 73 all out thanks to R Clark’s four wickets.

Division Four

Birch Vale 2XI v Old Glossop 2XI

Birch Vale conceded the fixture.

New Mills 2XI v Hayfield 2XI

New Mills won the toss and elected to field, as Hayfield scored 181-6. S Fraser scored 72*. New Mills fell to defeat after being bowled out for 75 in reply.

Tintwistle 2XI v Dove Holes 2XI

Tintwistle won the toss and elected to bat, falling to 88 all out. M Lilley scored 35 as D Waterhouse took 4-14. Dove Holes knocked off the runs for the loss of eight wickets, S Barrow taking 3-17.

Woodley 2XI v Broadbottom 2XI

Woodley won the toss and elected to field first as Broadbottom scored 168-9. T Jackson struck 38 as A Webb took 4-42. Woodley fell to 167 all out despite 45 from R Bamford.

Division Five

Buxworth 2XI v Hadfield 2XI

Buxworth conceded the fixture.

Compstall 2XI v Chapel 2XI

The game was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch.

Offerton 2XI v Whaley Bridge 2XI

Offerton won the toss and elected to field, seeing Whaley Bridge ending on 105 all out. E Ford scored 34, as Z Ahmed took 4-13 and S Iryas 3-15. Offerton were 31 all out in reply, as E Ford took 6-5.

Stalybridge 2XI v Hazel Grove 2XI

Stalybridge won the toss and elected to field, bowling Hazel Grove out for 93. A Tomlinson scored 32, as J Dooley took 5-21 and A Dale 3-17. Stalybridge knocked off the runs for the loss of eight wickets thanks to 48 from S Nock, as L Rogers took 3-19.
