Weekend Review: Derbyshire and Cheshire Cricket League

The sun shone down on the weekend’s cricket games.

Division One

Broadbottom v Mottram

Mottram won the toss and elected to bat and were bowled out for 133. O Andrew scored 40 as J Riley took 3-44 and O Cummings 4-39.

Broadbottom then fell to 71 all out as O Andrew took 3-29 and J Kay 3-6.

Hayfield v Woodley

Hayfield won the toss and chose to bat first, ending on 299-7. G Wood scored 59, H Poppengoel 63 and A Ebbrell 71. Woodley could only manage 212 all out in reply. B Qasim hit 31, A Ahmed 31 and J Hounslow 38, as H Poppengoel and J Adamson took four wickets each.

Dove Holes v Dinting

Dinting elected to bat and scored 206-7. M Coleman scored 36, M Knight 59 and T Wyche 41. Dove Holes were 129 all out in reply as M Stringer and S Mehta claimed four wickets each.

Whaley Bridge v New Mills

New Mills won the toss and elected to field, bowling out Whaley Bridge for 183. H Holden hit 72 and M Slack 31, as C Mills took 3-45 and M Birchenhall 6-31. New Mills fell 12 runs short of their target in reply. C Firth made 51, J Dennis 38 and D Holmes 41, as C Holden took 3-40.

Division Two

Hazel Grove v Birch Vale

Hazel Grove won the toss and elected to field seeing Birch Vale rack up 242-7.

M Walsh scored 89 and W Reeman 39 as M Coram took 3-26. Hazel Grove ended agonisingly close on 236-8. J Hall made 44, M Coram 39 and J Wilkinson 76 as L Anthony took 3-59.

Hadfield v Tintwistle

Hadfield won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 237-6 thanks to 80 from J Tranter and 65 from L Doyle. Tintwistle were 191 all out in reply despite 53 from J Smith and 42 from T Pugh.

Old Glossop v Stalybridge SP

Stalybridge won the toss and elected to bowl first as their hosts scored 232-7. B Whitehouse scored 87* and M McGrail 34 as J Brownhill took 3-29. Stalybridge chased the target for the loss of just four wickets as S Jelani hit 81 and M Whitworth 57.

Newton v Buxworth

Newton won the toss and elected to bowl as Buxworth ended 101 all out. C Barnard took 4-15. Newton’s chase was successful as they lost just three wickets, N Tansella scoring 45*.

Division Three

Chapel v Newton 2XI

Newton won the toss and elected to field first as Chapel made 201-9. I Heathcote struck 75* and J Berry 34 as G Hayes took 4-52.

Newton completed their chase for the loss of just eight wickets. J Mercer scored 87 and J Cragg 39 as H Beal and A Burgess took four wickets each.

Pott Shrigley v High Lane

Pott Shrigley were put into bat and ended on 223-5. S Dunn scoring 66, R Anderson-Fitton 50 and D Coran 45 as M McCarthy took three wickets. High Lane ended 188 all out with M Mcarthy scoring 45, J Charlton 57 as A Cawthorn and M Baqueriza-Jackson took three and four wickets respectively.

Hollingworth v Charlesworth

Hollingworth won the toss and elected to field as Charlesworth ended on 184-5. J Miller took 5-33 as E Morley scored 98* and M Bardsley 50*. Hollingworth fell to 68 all out in reply as G Evans took 7-16.

Mottram 2XI v Offerton

Offerton won the toss and elected to field first seeing Mottram score 242-9. J Dadge scored 41, J Irons 68, M Marsden 37 and P Marks 30. Offerton fell to 222 all out in reply as R Jeda scored 64 and S Kirkham 32 with H Moore taking 4-28.

Division Four

Woodley 2XI v Hayfield 2XI

Woodley won the toss and elected to field first, bowling Hayfield out for 178. J Noakes made 54 and D Aldridge 43 as T Hotson took 5-56. Woodley made it home for the loss of seven wickets with A Rippon scored 64*, D Baker 34* and D Hotson 31 as G Faulkner took 3-23.

Tintwistle 2XI v

Broadbottom 2XI

Tintwistle won the toss and elected to bat, ending 159 all out. R Harris scored 90 as M Greenhalgh 3-33. Broadbottom were 144 all out in reply as J Morris took 5-39.

New Mills 2XI v

Old Glossop 2XI

Old Glossop batted first and made 260-3 thanks to 164* from J Cannon and 58 from C Joy. New Mills were 118 all out in reply. N Smith made 35, while S Dodd took 4-8.

Birch Vale 2XI v

Dove Holes 2XI

Dove holes batted first and were 137 all out. M Turner made 35 and B Bagshaw 48, while R Johnson and S Burns took three wickets each. Birch Vale reached their target for the loss of just four wickets thanks to an unbeaten half century from R Johnson.

Division Five

Compstall 2XI v

Whaley Bridge 2XI

Whaley Bridge were put in to bat and ended 73 all out as V Clark took 4-17. Compstall reached the required total for a loss of five wickets, four of them taken by A Whightman.

Charlesworth 2XI v

Hazel Grove 2XI

Hazel Grove won the toss and elected to field as Charlesworth were 85 all out. J Bennett took 4-28 and O Hodson 3-24. Hazel Grove made it home for the loss of six wickets as D Wilson made 64*. D Sargeant took 3-18.

Dinting 2XI v Hollingworth 2XI

Hollingworth won the toss and elected to bat, ending on 156-4 as J Schofield made 38 and D Morris 41*. Dinting eased to a win for the loss of one wicket thanks to 101* from R Townsend.

Buxworth 2XI v Chapel 2XI

Chapel won the toss and elected to field, bowling their hosts out for 92. Chapel made it home for the loss of no wicket as J Theyer ended on 76*.

Stalybridge SP 2XI v

Pott Shrigley 2XI

Stalybridge won the toss and elected to field as Pott Shrigley ended on 147-9.

D Allerton made 43* as A Dale and M Connolly took three wickets each. Stalybridge made it home for the loss of two wickets as T Mooney made 80 and A Wilde 51*.

Offerton 2XI v Hadfield 2XI

Hadfield won the toss and asked their hosts to bat. Offerton made 172-8 as Z Ahmed made 62 runs and K Patel took 4-31.

Hadfield fell to 112 all out in reply as S Nana took 4-31 and B Hinks 3-32.
