A Tintwistle football coach has been recognised for his commitment to making football accessible to children of all abilities after being named Derbyshire FA Coach of the Year for the Disability Pathway.
Anthony Kidd, of Tintwistle Athletic FC, has been recognised for his work in creating an inclusive environment where children who may not fit into mainstream football teams can take part, have fun and develop their skills.
His inclusive sessions are aimed at children of all abilities, including those with Down syndrome, ADHD, autism, dyspraxia, and verbal or non-verbal communication needs. They provide an opportunity for children who may find it difficult to find a place within conventional football teams to get involved in the sport in a supportive and welcoming environment.
The ethos behind the sessions is simple: 'All abilities, one team', with the emphasis on participation, enjoyment and ensuring everyone feels included.
Derbyshire FA praised Anthony for his “compassion, adaptability and unwavering commitment to ensuring every child has the opportunity to enjoy and benefit from football.”
The inclusive football sessions take place every Wednesday from 6pm to 7pm at Glossopdale Indoor Sports Hall.
Sessions cost £4, with the first session free, and payment can be made on the day or booked online.
