The General Election state of play

There could be up to six parties contesting High Peak when Britain goes to the polls on 12 December.

In High Peak, the prospective candidates announced so far are: Ruth George (Labour), Robert Largan (Conservative), Guy Kiddey (Liberal Democrat), Mark Nolan (Brexit), Robert Hodgetts-Haley (Greens) and Chris Boyle (UKIP).

At the June 2017 General Election, Mrs George took High Peak from standing MP Andrew Bingham (Conservative) in a three-cornered fight polling 26,753 votes, to Mr Bingham’s 24,431. The Lib Dems polled 2,669.

The House of Lords passed the Election Bill yesterday (Wednesday) which means Parliament will now 'dissolve' next Wednesday.
