Teenager arrested on suspected terror offences

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested following a police operation in Simmondley, Glossop.

Counter Terrorism Police East Midlands carried out a pre-planned warrant in the area on Thursday 3rd September, with a significant police presence reported around Simmondley New Road.

Derbyshire Police said the teenager was arrested on suspicion of collecting or recording information that could be useful to someone committing or preparing an act of terrorism.

The arrest has been made under Section 58, part (b), of the Terrorism Act 2000.

A Derbyshire Police spokesperson said there is not currently believed to be any wider risk to the public.
