Glossop's historic Wren Nest Mill is facing a significant threat as a large sinkhole has now appeared.
The building, which was built in 1815, is now in danger of structural damage.
This isn't the first time the building has experienced damage. In 2007, the old mill suffered a fire which burnt through the roof of the building and the top floor.
As a precautionary measure, vehicular access to the shops and apartments within the mill complex will be closed until the weekend.
Local authorities and engineers are working to stabilise the area and ensure the safety of residents.
The sinkhole has raised concerns about the stability of the entire structure. Emergency services are urging the public to avoid the area until further notice.
