Run for Reuben’s: Charity calls on locals to join the Manchester challenge

Reuben’s Retreat is calling on supporters to join its team of #REURunners at the AJ Bell Great Manchester Run on Sunday 31st May 2026.

The fundraising event will help to support families after child loss and those whose children may face an uncertain future.

Whether you choose the 10k or half marathon, taking part offers a fantastic personal challenge and the chance to be part of an unforgettable atmosphere in the heart of Manchester.

All runners who sign up to support Reuben’s Retreat will receive a complimentary sports vest or T-shirt and be welcomed into a friendly and supportive community of fundraisers. Participants can also join a dedicated Facebook group to share training tips, motivate each other and build team spirit ahead of race day.

To help runners prepare, the charity is hosting a special 5k training run from Reuben’s Retreat in Glossop (SK13 7BQ). The event will include refreshments and a tour of the Retreat, giving supporters the opportunity to see first-hand how their fundraising makes a real difference to families in need.

Anyone interested in taking part can sign up via the AJ Bell Great Manchester Run website and then contact Reuben’s Retreat to join the team. Those who have already secured their place are also encouraged to get in touch so they can be part of the official charity group. Further information is available at reubensretreat.org or by emailing fundraising@reubensretreat.org

With hundreds of runners expected to take to the streets, organisers are hoping to “turn Manchester REUblue” and make 2026 the biggest and best year yet. As the charity says, it’s more than just a run - it’s a chance to come together, challenge yourself and help bring comfort and support to families facing the most difficult of times.
