Reuben’s Retreat was honoured to attend the Mayor’s Civic Service on Sunday, held at Dinting Church, Glossop Holy Trinity, Dinting Vale.
The service, attended by the Mayor of the High Peak, Councillor Dom Starkey, marked a moment of reflection on his mayoral year and a heartfelt thank you to all who have supported his work and charitable efforts.
Throughout his term, Cllr Starkey has shown remarkable commitment to local causes, including Reuben’s Retreat, one of his chosen charities for the year. His support has gone far beyond formal duties, with personal challenges and community events helping raise much-needed funds for the charity’s mission to support families facing bereavement and child loss.
From completing a half-marathon to preparing for the upcoming Manchester Marathon on 19th April, the Mayor has put both his time and energy into making a difference. Highlights of his fundraising year have included a lively Race Night, a gruelling 12-hour Boxing Challenge, a glamorous Masquerade Ball and even a skydive, all in aid of Reuben’s Retreat.
As his mayoral year draws to a close, Cllr Starkey will host his final fundraising event, the Mayor’s Civic Ball, on Friday 24th April at Glossop Cricket Club. The evening promises to be a fantastic celebration, featuring a three-course meal, live entertainment and the opportunity to support local charities that make the High Peak community so special.
Reuben’s Retreat expressed their gratitude, saying they are “incredibly thankful for Dom’s unwavering support and kindness” throughout his time as Mayor.
