The Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service has issued an urgent warning for residents to keep all doors and windows closed as wildfires tear through the Goyt Valley.
The Derbyshire Bridge has been closed, though the Cat and Fiddle route has reopened as crews from Derbyshire and Cheshire continue to tackle the blaze, next to the Errwood Rervoir.
While the fire has not been completely put out, it has significantly decreased overnight, according to the Buxton Weather Watch.
In a social media statement, fire crews urged residents to avoid the area around reservoir after a wildfire broke out at approximately 11:30 yesterday (30th April).
Ten fire engines from Derbyshire and Cheshire were called to the scene, but withdrew from the area at 21:45 due to failing light.
One crew remained overnight to monitor the fire, with crews returning at 7:00 this morning.
The cause of the wildfire has not been confirmed.
The Buxton Police have said they will remain in the area to support fire crews, and have once again urged residents to close doors and windows to minimise the impact of smoke and ash.
